THERMAL MASTIC

Thermal Mastic is a heat transference putty, and must be placed on the cooling unit anywhere there is direct metal to metal contact (ex. aluminum fins inside the refrigerator box, metal freezer plates on Dometics equipped with such, back of the freezer plate on Norcolds and Americanas, etc.). Failure to do so will not allow the refrigerator to reach it's maximum cooling potential, and will give the false impression that your new unit is defective. This is a common mistake made when installing your new cooling unit.

Thermal mastic is not to be used to seal the perimeter edges of the foam block. We recommend using aluminum repair tape to seal around the edges of the foil backing or clear silicone around the edges of the foam block.

This picture shows the exposed evaporator bars on a Dometic RM2600 series unit. Apply thermal mastic liberally to these bars prior to assembly.
