Each unit has a new evaporator and boiler assembly, which are the two areas where cooling unit failure occurs. Quite simply, a cooling unit will fail due to a rusted evaporator (this is when you smell ammonia inside the refrigerator) or a plugged and/or cracked boiler (you will notice a yellow powder around the propane burner area, but often times will not smell any ammonia). Because we produce such a high quality cooling unit, each unit is covered by our standard 2 Year Warranty and is shipped with a complete set of installation instructions, troubleshooting guides, a tube of thermal mastic, and a strip of new insulation to use around the boiler assembly. And, contrary to popular belief, the ordinary person with a set of basic tools and an average mechanical aptitude can change out a cooling unit in an afternoon. We require that you return your old cooling unit core, and we furnish a prepaid core return shipping label with every unit that we ship. We ask that the core be returned within 10 business days of receipt of your new cooling unit. This time limit is flexible if we know in advance. Charges do apply in the event that we do not receive a core from you.

Please note that these cooling units are not the same as the units in Norcold's DE or DC line of refrigerators. The DE / DC lines utilizes a freon based, compressor driven design. The only way we offer cooling units for the DE / DC series refrigerators are new, factory units covered by Norcold's warranty. The answer to this is "no". Most any person with a basic set of tools can change out a cooling unit in an afternoon. There is no welding, soldering, or any special skills required. The cooling unit is a sealed system, and is basically a bolt in operation. And, we include a complete set of instructions and materials specific to your model refrigerator with every cooling unit we ship. You must pick the unit up at the FedEx Freight terminal. No residential delivery is included in these prices, as these are shipped using large semi tractor trailers.
