LEVELING YOUR RV (PROPERLY) We have told you about the damages caused by running your refrigerator out of level. Now, we are going to tell you the proper way to level your refrigerator so that this condition does not happen. People assume that by leveling their rv, the refrigerator (and everything else for that matter) is level also. This is not always true. Slight variences in the cabinets can cause your refrigerator to be off level by several degrees. As the tolerance is no more than 3 to 5 degrees, this can be very damaging to your refrigerator. To correctly level your refrigerator, place a small torpedo or bubble level in the refrigerator. If you have an older Dometic with the metal plate that extends into the freezer, place your level on this plate and fine tune the level of your rv accordingly. If you have a Norcold or newer Dometic, (or some other brand) that does not have this plate, then place the level on the floor of the refrigerator section and adjust the level of the rv accordingly. Remember, 3 to 5 degrees is very nearly perfect. Also, the more level your refrigerator is, the better it will work as gravity is the primary force that operates inside of the cooling unit. Leveling your refrigerator perfectly can cause your refrigerator to operate more efficiently.
