INSTALLATION TROUBLESHOOTING

You have installed Your new cooling unit, but it does not work. Have you checked the following possible causes:

1) Did you put THERMAL MASTIC between the evaporator coils and the aluminum fins in the refrigerator and the freezer? This will cause the cooling unit not to cool properly, if at all.

2) Check the THERMOSTAT. If yours is equipped with a capillary thermostat that has a thin copper or aluminum tube that runs through the back of the cooling unit into the refrigerator, make sure that there are no kinks or cracks in the tubing. Such cracks will cause the thermostat to cease functioning, and will require replacing the thermostat. An obvious sign of a bad thermostat is a blue - green tint or liquid on it.

3) Check the FUSES on the control board. Sometimes a fuse will blow during installation, and the refrigerator will not operate. These are easily replaced.

4) Make sure that you reconnected the 12 VOLT power source. Most rv refrigerators will not function without a 12 volt power source. The electronics on an rv refrigerator operate on 12 volt and not 110 volt. The 110 volt power cord is for the heating element only.

5) Make sure that you transferred the BAFFLE off of your old unit onto your new cooling unit. The refrigerator will not operate on propane without it.

6) Is your HEATING ELEMENT operating? Quite often, an old cooling unit with a blown boiler will damage the 110 volt heating element. If yours was very hard to remove from your old unit, then it is possible that the element itself is bad and will need to be replaced. Basically, if you see yellow residue around the burner area after you have removed the old cooling unit, it is best to replace the heating element. Quite often, the heating element will not come out if this condition is present.

7) How long have you let the refrigerator RUN with the new cooling unit installed? An rv refrigerator takes anywhere from 6 to 8 hours or more depending on the ambient temperature outside. If you are expecting results after an hour or so, you will be disappointed. Let it run for a while.
